Local Films Bat Ray Zipping Through Palo Alto Baylands
Photographer and nature enthusiast David Cruz spotted the bat ray (in the stingray family) moving through the marsh on Thursday afternoon.

David Cruz: “During my lunch break Thursday, I headed over to the Palo Alto Baylands, and I noticed two fins sticking out of the estuary.
“It turned out to be a large Bat Ray flying through the marsh water near the old boat house.

“It was at least three feet from wing to wing so it was a surprise how close it was to shore. I was happy to see my favorite local nature preserve thriving with such a big fish relative.”
