MyYogaTeacher Celebrates Ayurveda Week (Sep. 14-20)
Celebrate Ayurveda Week with 7 Days of Special Sessions Taught by World-Renowned Ayurvedic Medical Experts & Yoga Practitioners
MyYogaTeacher, which offers live, one-on-one and group yoga lessons, celebrates Ayurveda Week with seven special sessions taught by world-renowned Ayurvedic health and wellness experts from India and the United States, taking place from September 14 - 20, 2022 on the MyYogaTeacher platform. They will discuss Ayurvedic daily practices for diet, nutrition, yoga, spirituality, mental and physical health, pregnancy, and pain management.
“The history of yoga and Ayurveda are intimately intertwined, which is why we feel that offering knowledge about the principles and practice of Ayurveda are important for all yoga practitioners,” says Jitendra Gupta, CEO of MyYogaTeacher. “Each of these sessions is free to members, and non members interested in learning more can sign up for free under the trial period.”

- Sep. 14, 7:30 pm Eastern/4:30 pm Pacific (45 min.): Introduction to Ayurveda led by Anjali Deva, which will introduce the philosophy of Ayurveda, the over 5,000-year-old traditional medical system from India, and provide a historical overview and current practice of it. Deva is a Los Angeles-based Ayurvedic practitioner whose private practice, Rooted Rasa, specializes in an integrative and trauma-informed approach to Ayurveda.
- Sep. 15, 7:30 pm Eastern/4:30 pm Pacific (1 hour): Gut Health: an Ayurvedic Perspective led by Ayurvedic physician Dr. Akhilesh Sharma, who will teach the basic theory of Tridosha, which refers to the three doshas (vata, pitta and kapha), and its application in daily life so you can understand the Ayurvedic diet and nutrition. Dr. Sharma has over three decades of experience practicing Ayurveda across 19 countries.
- Sep. 16, 7:30 pm Eastern/4:30 pm Pacific (1 hour): Yoga and Ayurveda led by Arun Deva, who will lead a movement and breathwork session open to all levels, focusing on how yoga and Ayurveda connect, where they intersect, and how they support each other in our healing paradigm. Deva is a certified Ayurvedic practitioner, Ayurvedic yoga therapist, yoga therapist, and teacher of Vinyasa Krama yoga.
- Sep. 17, 7:30 pm Eastern/4:30 pm Pacific (1 hour): Pregnancy and Nutrition led by pediatrician Dr. Geetanjali Shah, will offer prospective parents guidelines on what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat, in preparation for childbirth, and discuss a post-delivery diet for lactating mothers. She’ll also talk about Pranic foods which nurture the mind, body, and soul, and their role in fetal brain development. Dr. Shah has conducted pregnancy workshops for over two decades and coached thousands of expectant women, and is the author of Garbhasanskar in Pregnancy, a textbook on pregnancy care.
- Sep. 18, 8:00 pm Eastern/5:00 pm Pacific (1 hour): Food and Spirituality led by Vinay Varanasi, will offer a storytelling session that helps students observe connections between different aspects of food and spirituality, and helps those seeking to deepen their their spiritual practice through food, a form of the divine, plus elevate their overall spiritual journey. An architect by training who is also a keen practitioner of sanatana dharma (the eternal truth and teachings of Hinduism), Varanasi uses the power of storytelling to highlight different aspects of dharma.
- Sep. 19, 7:30 pm Eastern/4:30 pm Pacific (1 hour): Managing Vata This Autumn led by Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya, exploring daily personal practices with Ayurveda, specifically how to manage Vata, which is the principle of movement in the microcosm and macrocosm of your being. She will discuss why managing Vata is important, and how it can ensure better digestion, mental health and help in pain management. Dr. Bhattacharya is a licensed physician, a published scientist, educator, author, and Fulbright scholar, and serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. The documentary film Healers: Journey into Ayurveda on The Discovery Channel features her work. Her book Everyday Ayurveda is a national bestseller.
- Sep. 20, 9:00 pm Eastern/6:00 pm Pacific (1 hour): Ayurveda and Joint Health led by VedAcharya Dr. Dhanada Kulkarni, who will discuss how Ayurveda can improve joint and bone health, plus back and knee health. Since bones and joints are considered a site of Vata in the body and are prone to imbalances and pain in general, she will address Ayurveda’s role in pain management. Dr. Kulkarni is an internationally renowned Ayurvedic physician and yoga therapist, pre- and post-natal exercise specialist, and licensed massage therapist. Board certified in American Alternative Medicine and American Integrative Medicine, she has been active in promoting Ayurveda and ancient Indian Vedic sciences like Vedic Astrology and Vastu (Indian Feng Shui) for over two decades.
