New Service Takes Hassle Out of Summer Planning

If you're a parent, you've been there—trying to juggle your children's diverse interests and schedules. This is for you.

The City of Palo Alto provides a wealth of opportunities for summertime enrichment -- the Art Center, Children’s Theater, Junior Museum & Zoo, and Recreation Services. But aligning schedules for children with different ages and interests can be a nightmare—and you always hear about the perfect activity for your child after it’s too late to enroll them.

There’s a new service that’s going to make your life a whole lot easier. The City calls it a “free, white glove” service that allows you to fill out a simple questionnaire for each child and receive a customized summer camp schedule based on the child’s age, interests and abilities.

“Every year we get calls from parents who have spent hours poring over the Enjoy catalog, trying to coordinate what their child wants (which can be like pulling teeth) with family vacations, multiple siblings, and camp availability, and still can’t make schedules match up, “ said Lacee Kortsen, Community Services Manager at Lucie Stern Community Center. “We always do our best to assist, but this year we decided we can do better, and we have! Camp Concierge is an amazing service that I know busy parents in Palo Alto will embrace, and our Camp Concierge staff can’t wait to get started.”
