Palo Alto City Begins Work To Close California Ave, Re-Opening Outdoor Dining And Retail
Santa Clara County's Public Health Department has cleared the return to outdoor dining and other activities.

City staff will begin work to close California Avenue on Friday, January 29 to reopen the street for expanded outdoor dining and retail opportunities. It is anticipated that the closure will be completed by the end of the day and extend from El Camino to Birch. The existing curbside pickup area on Ash will continue.

Staff is working with the business community on and off University Avenue to develop plans that could include the closure of a shorter segment of the street or other ways to increase vehicular access while still maximizing Downtown opportunities for residents to connect with outdoor dining options and pedestrian-only areas.
