Palo Alto Expands Summer Streets Program
The initiative is scheduled to run through Aug. 2.
PALO ALTO, CA — Palo Alto has expanded its Summer Streets initiative to include University Avenue.
Summer Streets will be expanded to University Avenue between Cowper and High streets.
The initiative started out with the closure of California Avenue to through traffic from El Camino Real to Birch Street.

The expansion goes into effect today at 10 a.m.
The Summer Streets initiative aims to support local restaurants and retail shops and provide customers a safe dining and shopping experience amid the coronavirus crisis.

The University Avenue closure will pause for part of next week as a Black Lives Matter mural is added on Hamilton Avenue. It will reopen to traffic on Sunday at 10 p.m. and close on July 3 at 10 a.m.
