After months of wrangling some of the most influential and forward-thinking innovators in the industry, the Palo Alto International Film Festival will kick off on Thursday its weekend of events celebrating the art and technology of film.
From documentaries about Silicon Valley innovation to a world-class speaker series to films and production workshops for kids, the film fest aims to put this festival on par with the finest in the world.

Alex Ippolite and Alf Seccombe, pilfered by the Palo Alto Institute from Sundance and put in charge of organizing the festival, told me it draws from the origins of cinema, which began here at Stanford when Eadweard Muybridge captured motion on camera for the first time.
