Palo Alto Glider Pilot Rescued After Mid-Air Mt. Diablo Collision
One of the pilots was rescued via helicopter and hospitalized, officials said. See a video of the rescue.
MT. DIABLO, CA — A Palo Alto pilot was involved in a recent mid-air glider crash near Mt. Diablo, east of Walnut Creek.
The glider pilots survived after the crash around 1 p.m. Nov. 7, the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
One was found south of Tassajara Creek Trail, wrapped in his parachute. The other was found nearby and taken by helicopter to a medical helicopter, which transported him to a hospital the sheriff's office said. His injuries prevented him from being taken by car.
