Palo Alto School District Hosts Back-To-School Annual Tasting Day

Palo Alto Unified School District is pleased to announce their 2nd Annual Tasting Day on Tuesday, Aug.12, from 11 a.. to 1 p.m. at Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School, 480 East Meadow Drive.

The day allows parents and students to try the many new entrees and snacks available in cafeterias across the district.

Secondary students will also be able to experiment with the new Do It Yourself (DIY) food bar formats featuring sizzling salads, deli sandwiches, and BBQ items. The District’s Student Nutrition Staff continues to refine and expand the made-from-scratch food options with increased use of local, organic, and kid-friendly ingredients.

During the last school year, over twenty new organic and healthy options were added to the student offerings inspiring more students than ever to purchase food from the school lunch program. As a way to enticeyoung students to try these new entrees and the new food bar formats coming to PAUSD, the 2ndAnnual Tasting Day will be held on Tuesday, August 12th.

Chief Business Officer Cathy Mak shared, “Over 250 parents and students attended the 1st Annual Tasting Day last year. It was a huge success. Throughout the year, we continued to listen to students and families by refining our menu. This year’s menu is better than ever, and we want to share that with our community.”

Students who eat a well-balanced and nutritious meal achieve more during their time in school. PAUSD’s lunches will continue to follow all federal and state nutrition regulations while being more attuned to the diverse and healthy tastes of the PAUSD community.
