Palo Alto Man Killed In Highway 152 Head-On Crash Identified
Police said the victim's car crossed double yellow lines into the westbound lane, killing him and injuring his passenger and another driver.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A man who died in a head-on crash on state Highway 152 in southern Santa Clara County on Wednesday morning has been identified by the California Highway Patrol as 27-year-old Palo Alto resident Juan Oliveras.
The crash was reported shortly before 6:20 a.m. on Highway 152 east of Lovers Lane near the county border with San Benito County.
A 32-year-old Los Banos man driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra truck was going west on the highway when Oliveras, driving a 2008 Toyota Sienna east with a 23-year-old Palo Alto woman as a passenger, for some reason crossed the double yellow lines into the westbound lane, CHP officials said.

The two trucks collided head-on, killing Oliveras. The Tundra driver was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with major injuries, while Oliveras' passenger also went to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the CHP.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision, which shut down the highway in both directions for more than three hours Wednesday, CHP officials said.
