We miss you too! Palo Alto playgrounds remain closed at this time, but we are excited to welcome you back soon. On Monday, September 28, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued guidance on reopening outdoor playgrounds and other outdoor recreational facilities. This guidance from the CDPH would allow all cities and counties statewide to open outdoor playground facilities, regardless of a county’s Tier status on California’s reopening requirements.

While playgrounds at parks in Palo Alto remain closed, our Community Services Department is currently reviewing this guidance to determine reopening plans for playgrounds. The state guidelines include occupancy limits, cleaning protocols, and additional social distancing measures to be in place before playgrounds can be opened. Playground users must also follow state health department guidelines, including all persons over the age of 2 years old wearing face covering, prohibiting eating and drinking in playgrounds, and other health and safety measures. More information on these new state guidance and requirements here.
