Palo Alto Startup Acquired by TripAdvisor
Last week it was Mailbox. This week: Tiny Post.
Another week, another Palo Alto startup acquired by a big company. So far, the purchase price has not been disclosed. (Last week was the $100 million Mailbox acquisition.)
Tiny Post was purchased by TripAdvisor.
“The Tiny Post team have created a wonderful app that shows the possibilities of combining travel photos with social and mobile,” said TripAdvisor co-founder and CEO Steve Kaufer. “We think Tiny Post is a great fit with our continued drive to provide engaging and sharable content and I am happy to welcome this strong team to TripAdvisor.”
Tiny Post was founded as Tiny Review in 2011 by Dick Brouwer and Melissa Miranda. They intended for their app to be used to add text to photos for reviews. But clever app users began creating memes that you can see all over Facebook and elsewhere. The company shifted gears and rebranded as Tiny Post last year.
