Palo Alto Woman Finds Burglar In Home

Police are looking into whether the incident is related to another recent interrupted burglary in the city.

PALO ALTO, CA — Police in Palo Alto are investigating a residential burglary that occurred Tuesday after a woman found a man inside her home. On Tuesday at 11:36 a.m., officers with the Palo Alto Police
Department received a report of a burglary in progress in the 4000 block of Wilkie Way. The victim told investigators she heard the doorbell ring around 11:30 a.m. and saw a man standing at her front door.

The man also knocked, but the woman decided not to answer the door. A short time later, the woman saw the man standing in her living room, police said.

She yelled at the man to get out of her house, and the suspect fled.

Police said it appears the suspect was able to enter the residence through an unlocked sliding back door.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic person, between 17 and 21 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray baseball cap.

Investigators are looking into whether Tuesday's incident is related to another interrupted burglary nearby in the 300 block of Curtner Avenue on June 30.
