
PALO ALTO, CA -- Police in Palo Alto have advised that with the annual Palo Alto Festival of the Arts returning to downtown this weekend, Aug. 26-27, road closures will result in significant traffic delays. University Avenue between High Street and Webster Street will be closed beginning early Saturday until 11 p.m. Sunday, and streets running north and south between Hamilton and Lytton avenues will also be closed to through traffic during the same time frame, police said in a news release. Police noted that Cowper Street and Emerson Street will remain open overnight Saturday night to allow north-south traffic to pass.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the Festival of the Arts, which features more than 300 artists, street painting, activities for kids and more. The festival is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
