Shelter-In-Place, School Lockdowns Lifted After Burglar Hunt In Nearby Los Altos [UPDATE]
BREAKING: Police say the suspect possibly left the area in a vehicle.

LOS ALTOS, CA – UPDATE: FRIDAY, OCT. 28, 1:15 p.m.
The Los Altos Police Department has lifted the shelter-in-place for area residents and school lockdowns this afternoon following an area manhunt for a burglary suspect.
"The suspect is believed to have fled in a vehicle," police said. "The investigation is ongoing at this time."

Officers along with a K-9 unit searched for the suspect and asked residents in the area to stay inside, police said.
St. Simon Parish School and Georgina P. Blach Intermediate School went under a lockdown that was lifted shortly before 1 p.m., according to police.

St. Simon School will dismiss students and hold afterschool activities at its normal schedule, school officials said on Twitter.
Students and residents weren't harmed during the incident, police said.
The suspect, described as a black man in his mid 20s, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing dark clothing and a possible scarf, was discovered this morning when residents interrupted a break-in on the 1000 block of Covington Road in Los Altos, police said.
Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 911, according to police.

Police are looking for a home burglary suspect in a Los Altos neighborhood where they asked people to shelter in place late this morning.
Officers responded to a report of an interrupted residential burglary in the 1000 block of Covington Road just east of Miramonte Avenue, police said at about 11:40 a.m.
Officers along with a K-9 unit are searching for the suspect and have asked residents in the area to stay inside, police said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his mid 20s standing about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing dark clothing and may have a scarf on, police said.
The residents who interrupted the burglary are safe, the department said.
Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 911, according to police.
