Uplift Local provides pedestrian only areas while balancing other spaces in Palo Alto business districts such as California Avenue and the downtown core for curbside pickup and delivery. This aspect of the Uplift Local program runs through December 31, 2020 and could be expanded based on community and business input. As more business activities are allowed by the Santa Clara County Public Health Officer and State Public Health, these areas and others strive to offer expanded outdoor dining, retail, personal services, and outdoor gyms and fitness options connecting the community together by providing a sense of normal during these challenging times. The effort continues to evolve based on the changing conditions of the pandemic and community and business input.
