Small Fire at Maples Pavilion Extinguished
Stanford University issued an alert to the campus community at 2:20 p.m.
Firefighters quickly put out a small fire in Stanford University’s basketball arena this afternoon, a university spokesman said.
The fire burned a small section of the roof at Maples Pavilion.
It started at about 2 p.m. and was extinguished quickly by Palo Alto and Mountain View firefighters, university spokesman Brad Hayward said.

No one was injured and damage was minimal.
Hayward said the pavilion remained closed this afternoon but he wasn’t anticipating any long-term disruptions.
