Stanford Children's Hospital Opening Expanded Campus In December
Stanford Children's Hospital will more than double the size of the current campus by linking the original hospital with a new main building.

SOUTH BAY, CA -- On May 9, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford announced that after almost a decade in the making, it has begun the countdown to the Dec. 2017 opening of the new pediatric and obstetric hospital campus.
The expansion will more than double the size of the existing campus by linking the original hospital with a new main building, bringing the total hospital space to measure 844,000 square feet.
Upon completion, this facility will be among the most technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable and family friendly hospital for children and expectant mothers in America.

Highlights include:
- The only hospital in the Bay Area exclusively dedicated to pediatric and obstetric care;
- As a result of the expansion, the campus more than doubles in size;
- 149 new patient beds, for a total of 361 onsite;
- 3.5 acres of gardens and green space;
- 6 new surgical suites, for a total of 13, more than any children’s hospital in Northern California;
- A neuro-hybrid surgery suite — the only one of its kind in a California children’s hospital (features a state-of-the-art diagnostic MRI, direct access to angiography imaging equipment and a full operating room;
- One of the nation’s only stand-alone combined PET/MRI scanners dedicated to pediatric patients;
- Eco friendly: 800,000 gallons of water expected to be saved annually and 60 percent reduction in energy consumption.
“This will be the nation’s most technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable and family-friendly hospital for children and expectant mothers,” hospital Chief Executive Officer Christopher G. Dawes said in a statement.
