Update On Louis And Ross Road Traffic Improvements Underway In Palo Alto

One of the City’s highest priorities is to maintain traffic and bike circulation and address traffic improvements within Palo Alto neighborhoods. The City of Palo Alto will work to address traffic circulation improvements at the intersection of Ross Road and E Meadow Drive and intersections of Moreno Ave, Fielding Avenue and Amarillo Avenue on Louis Road. The work is anticipated to be performed from November 9 ‐ 13, 2020. The work was originally approved in early 2020 and then unfortunately delayed due to the COVID‐19 pandemic and County safety restrictions in place for several months. These changes address neighborhood concerns following the installation of improvements on Ross Road and Louis Road.

The traffic circulation improvements include:

• Ross Road & E. Meadow Drive: Add two‐way stop controls on E. Meadow Drive and removal of yield controls (see Figure 1).
• Louis Road & Moreno Ave (West Leg or Northerly intersection): Addition of stop sign on Louis Road to make this intersection a three‐way stop controlled intersection (see Figure 2).
• Louis Road & Moreno Ave (East Leg or Southerly intersection): Removal of stop sign on Louis Road at this intersection which will make this intersection a side street stop controlled intersection with stop on Moreno Ave only (see Figure 2).
• Louis Road & Fielding Drive: Removal of stop sign on Louis Road which will make the intersection a side street stop controlled intersection with stop on Fielding Drive only (see Figure 2).
• Louis Road & Amarillo Ave: Addition of stop sign on Louis Road to make this intersection a three‐way stop controlled intersection (see Figure 2).
