PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — One man was arrested in connection to a string of residential burglaries that have been plaguing residents all over the peninsula, officials at the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department said.

For about three months, residents have reported seeing people on their security cameras taking things from their homes according to PVEPD Detective Sergent Aaron Belda. Last week, detectives investigating the burglaries arrested one suspect they believe to be responsible for the burglaries.

However, Belda said, detectives believe there is at least one more person that could have been involved in the burglaries because security footage shows two people. That other person is still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.

Belda said the incidents are not limited to Palos Verdes estates, as the department has received reports of similar incidents in Rancho Palos Verdes and Torrance. Anyone who may have information was urged to reach out to the PVEPD at 310-378-4211.

To help residents be prepared for possible burglaries, Belda said PVEPD detectives offer to survey houses to look for weaknesses and point out areas of vulnerability that could be improved. Belda said security cameras are also helpful in investigations.

"It's not going to stop them from doing bad stuff, but hopefully it will make them pass on your house because it looks more fortified," Belda said.
