3 Plead No Contest To Paintball Attack In South Bay

PALOS VERDES, CA – A trio from the South Bay pleaded no contest Thursday to charges stemming from a paintball attack that left a man with a serious eye injury in Torrance.

Two men – Tyler James Walters, 21, of Torrance and Lynn Emerson Johnson III, 21, of Hawthorne – each pleaded no contest to a mayhem charge stemming from the Feb. 4 attack in the area of 232nd Street and Juniper Avenue.

Walters also pleaded no contest to an assault with a deadly weapon count involving a separate paintball attack on a teenage boy in Torrance the same day.

Walters was immediately sentenced to six years in state prison, while Johnson was ordered to serve four years behind bars.

Co-defendant Gabriella Lorraine Semana, 19, of San Pedro pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon – a paintball gun. She was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation.

Patrol officers, along with investigators, located the three and their vehicle in the area of Cabrillo Boulevard and 233rd Street on Feb. 6, according to Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris, who said a lengthy investigation "ultimately led to the recovery of several paintballs as well as the paintball gun."

One of the victims suffered a serious eye injury, according to Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott.
