Beach Closes Due To Hazardous Weekend Weather

High surf advisories lead to closed beaches in some areas of Rancho Palos Verdes.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA – Sacred Cove beach and trails will be closed from today until Tuesday, August 1 due to hazardous weather conditions. Heavy surf is expected to affect the south-facing beaches this weekend, and the City has closed Inspiration Point, Sacred Cove and Portuguese Point at Rancho Palos Verdes–Abalone Cove Shoreline Park, according to an advisory sent out by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.

The National Weather Service issued the beach advisory from now until August 1, noting that there's an increased risk of drowning when strong rip currents occur.

The beach near the lifeguard station and Portuguese Bend Nursery School remains open, for further information and questions, please contact staff at Abalone Cove at 310-544-5366.
