Breakers are on an Unbelievable Roll!
Breakers Win Palm Springs, Breakers Shoot-out and Las Vegas Big City Basketball Titles in 3 Weeks!
The Breakers Club Basketball team which practices at the local high schools throughout the year are enjoying an unbelievable amount of success. The Breakers 9th Grade Team has won the Palm Springs weekend tournament, followed with a win of their own inaugural Shoot-out that was held at Peninsula High School two weeks ago and topping it off with a win of the Las Vegas Big City Tournament this past Memorial Day weekend. The team is comprised of mostly Peninsula High School students but membership is open to everyone. The boys are riding an unbelievable string of good luck and are earning quality wins over some very tough competition. The Breakers are not a very tall team with the tallest player only being 6'-02" but their heart and commitment to playing together as a team is unmatched. The team is led by Coach Frank Salceda and Joe Blanco. The Breakers club team has numerous teams at all levels including ages as young as 1st grade and in some cases kindergarten. In the Palm Springs and Las Vegas tournament the Breakers fielded teams in most of the divisions, and experienced success in all the levels. The competition was tough and fierce and the Breakers did better than most club teams did. One common comment from the parents of the other club players was that the Breakers really know how to play team ball, they are fun to watch.
The Breakers have a number of very good coaches, who are all dedicated individuals that are fantastic teachers with a wide range of experience in playing and coaching, and they enjoy teaching the game to everyone. The coaches understand how there needs to be a balance of fun and enjoyment in the learning process and they begin by teaching the fundamentals of the game. With the building blocks in place, the players are taught the nuances of the game and the best way to prepare for the next level of play. Many of the Breakers have gone on to have very successful careers in high school and beyond.
