Fire Breaks Out In Wilmington Auto Salvage Yard
The flames briefly threatened a nearby house.

PALOS VERDES, CA – A fire broke out at an auto salvage yard in Wilmington Wednesday, briefly threatening a nearby house before firefighters doused the flames.
The blaze was reported about 12:15 p.m. at 1807 E. M St., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
"There are canisters in the yard – unknown contents – and auto tires causing small explosions which firefighters are working around," LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said at the height of the blaze.

The flames were extinguished in 47 minutes, but some firefighters remained on scene dousing hot spots. No one was hurt.
There was no immediate word on what sparked the flames in the 550-by-300-foot yard.
