Former PV Pitcher Has Major League Potential
Palos Verdes High School grad Ben Rowen is promoted to the Texas Rangers' AAA minor league team.

A former Palos Verdes High School baseball player is making his way up to the big leagues, according to the Daily Breeze.
Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 22nd round in 2010, Ben Rowen, 24, was recently promoted to the Rangers' AAA minor league team, the Round Rock Express. So far, the reliever has pitched seven and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and maintaining an earned-run average of zero, according to Baseball-Reference.com.
He was named Reliever of the Year in the Carolina League, among other accolades, according to the Breeze.
Rowen is a submarine pitcher—his knuckles nearly touch the ground when he throws—and his fastball is about 80 mph.
Brad Holman, Rowen's pitching coach at Round Rock, believes the hurler will end up in the big leagues.
"I think the stuff he has is good enough for the major leagues," Holeman told reporter Dave Thorpe.
