Gas Prices Drop for 25th Straight Day

Prices drop in Southern California for the 25th consecutive day on Monday.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell today for the 25th consecutive day, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $3.648, the lowest amount since Feb. 24.

The average price is 7.2 cents less than one week ago and 22.1 cents lower than a month ago but 45.8 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped 21.8 cents over the past 25 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Sunday.

The Orange County average price also fell today for the 25th consecutive day, dropping four-tenths of a cent to $3.62, lowest amount since Feb. 24.

The Orange County average price is 6.8 cents less than one week ago and 22.3 cents lower than a month ago but 43.4 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped 22.1 cents over the past 25 days, including 1 cent on Sunday.

The decreasing prices are the result of lower demand, which is typical for the fall, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
