The wholesale price of California-blend gasoline on the New York Mercantile Exchange dropped nearly 30 cents per gallon earlier this week after maintenance was completed at refineries in Southern California and Northern California, which should lead to the end of record-low inventories which had caused the increases.

The average price is 17.9 cents more than one week ago, 16.5 cents higher than one month ago and 17.7 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
