Grounds Crew Shoot At Gophers At Trump National Golf Club: SEE

The grounds crew were seen driving around on a golf cart, aiming a rifle at various points throughout the 18-hole course.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA – Groundskeepers at Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes were seen taking aim at gophers with rifles, according to the Daily Breeze. No one at the golf course could confirm what a Daily Breeze photographer happened to catch in plain sight.

It is illegal to "fire, discharge, shoot or operate any gun, revolver, pistol, firearm, even a slingshot within city boundaries," city officials told ABC7. The city can issue permits to do so, only in cases to protect agriculture, but a city representative told ABC7 that it hasn't issued that type of permit for more than 10 years.

The city manager in Rancho Palos Verdes said city officials are investigating the incident to see whether the club broke a city ordinance, according to The Washington Post.

At Trump National Golf Club, the rifleman, most likely a groundskeeper, was ushered around the 18-hole course in a golf cart as he took aim at various points, the Daily Breeze said. Gophers were a likely target because they often cause problems for golf courses. It’s not clear what ammunition was fired and what safety precautions course officials took.
