Kaiser Permanente Announces 2014-2015 South Bay Grantees
Kaiser Permanente Grants $362,000 to South Bay Community Organizations

The Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center recently awarded $362,000 in grants and donations to local non-profit organizations focused on addressing access to care, preventive care, violence prevention, and obesity prevention. Thirty-three local organizations received grants of up to $20,000, in some cases with a multi-year commitment of additional funds.
“Grant-making is a critical component of Kaiser Permanente’s mission to improve the health of the communities we serve,” said Lesley Wille, RN and executive director of the South Bay Medical Center. “Like our approach to medicine, our work in the community takes a prevention-focused, evidence-based approach. To be healthy, people need access to healthy and nutritious food, clean air, successful schools, and safe parks and playgrounds.”

Grantees must serve residents of the Long Beach, Harbor and/or South Bay areas. Funded projects address health needs identified by Kaiser Permanente’s most recent Community Health Needs Assessment—specifically, access to care, obesity prevention, preventive health care, and violence prevention.
