Karen Sielbeck, RN, Selected as Chief Nurse Executive for Kaiser Permanente South Bay
Rancho Palos Verdes resident assumes new role at medical center.
Karen Sielbeck, RN, has been selected to serve as Chief Nurse Executive for Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. In this new role, Sielbeck will oversee the professional practice of nursing and the provision of nursing care in all licensed or surveyed areas of the medical facility. Sielbeck officially assumed her new role on May 11.
“During her tenure at Kaiser Permanente South Bay, Karen has distinguished herself as an inspiring leader who can collaborate across departments,” said Lesley Wille, RN, executive director of Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. “I’m confident that Karen will lead our inpatient nursing with a clear vision and commitment to deliver the best care and service to our members.”
Sielbeck most recently served as South Bay’s assistant medical center administrator for the departments of Quality, Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Accreditation and Licensing, Infection Prevention and Medical Staff Services. She has more than 20 years of experience at South Bay Medical Center in a variety of roles, including: clinical nurse specialist, assistant director for Critical Care Services, Utilization Management care coordinator, renal nurse case manager and department administrator for Population Care Management and Hematology/Oncology.

“It’s fitting that this announcement should come in the midst of Nurse’s Week—as we celebrate our nurses across the South Bay,” said Sielbeck. “The care and concern that our nursing staff shows to patients every day is an inspiration to me, and I’m honored to step into this new leadership role.”
Sielbeck resides in Rancho Palos Verdes. She holds a master’s degree in Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She is also a graduate of Kaiser Permanente’s Executive Leadership Program at the Harvard School of Business.
