Not Your Typical Yard Sale
Stocking up on water sports gear is easy at the Dive N' Surf's annual event.
It’s that time of year again. If you are a water sports enthusiast then you know what the month of February means: time for Dive N’ Surf’s Annual Yard Sale on North Broadway in Redondo Beach.
My mission was to find a spring wetsuit, but my first stop was the surfboards. I found a beautiful 7-foot-6-inch board with pink and blue hibiscus flowers.
As much as I fell in love with this board, I had to keep moving and stay on track.

I stopped briefly to look at the diving equipment and stand-up paddleboards. Plus, I encountered two huge trailers of wetsuits. I tried on a couple and decided the Body Glove women’s method spring suit in blue was a good fit.
Then of course I remembered that I needed some new board shorts, so I made my way to the clothing section where I found a large selection of bathing suits, board shorts, jeans, tops and jackets.

As I made my way to the check out counter (with some board shorts in tow), I chatted with Jamie Meistrell, a grandson of one of the founders, Bob Meistrell.
I have been a long-time customer, I told him, and bought my first spring wetsuit and first full wetsuit from Dive N’ Surf. But I never really knew how many years the store's popular yard sale had been going on.
“This is the 35th year,” Jaime said.
The sale continues until Sunday, Feb. 27, which is good, just in case I need a new pair of Ugg boots.
