• Rancho Palos Verdes Could Declare Emergency Ahead Of Powerful El Niño (patch.com) — Rancho Palos Verdes officials are weighing a local emergency declaration to get ahead of a potentially historic 2026–27 El Niño that could worsen the city's ongoing landslide problems. The move would speed up preparations to protect Palos Verdes Drive South, utilities, and other vulnerable infrastructure, while coordinating closely with county, state, and federal agencies already under emergency proclamations. 
• Ocean Water Warnings Issued as Southland Heat Continues (mynewsla.com) — If you're thinking about cooling off at the coast, be aware that ocean water at Portuguese Bend in Rancho Palos Verdes is under a health warning due to elevated bacteria levels. County officials advise staying out of the water there and at several other LA County beaches until tests show it's safe again. You can check updated conditions anytime via the county's beach hotline or website.
