Peninsula Frosh/Soph Get back to Winning Ways vs. Morningside with 61-16 Win

Peninsula Frosh/Soph Get total Team Effort to Gain the 61-16 Victory

The Peninsula Frosh/Soph Team was looking to return to its winning ways after suffering a league opening loss to the Mira Costa Mustangs on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers had their 2nd league game on Friday afternoon and due to a scheduling change the Panthers were away for this game and had to play at 3:00 Pm instead of the usual 4:30 PM time slot. The change in times or venue apparently had no impact upon the Panthers who came out determined to prove that they are a better team than they have showed recently. The Panthers used a full-court man to man defense for the game and set the tone very early on. The Panthers raced out to a 13-2 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and they appeared to be just getting ready to explode.

The 2nd quarter began with the Panthers picking up where they had left off and their defense was causing numerous turnovers all over the court. The Panthers were clicking on all cylinders and their fast break came alive in the quarter as they quickly outscored the Monarchs 24-7 to take a commanding 37-9 lead heading into halftime. The Panthers were all contributing and everyone played significant minutes in the first half of the game.

The 3rd quarter began and the Panthers took time to patiently work on their offensive sets and to improve their execution of their plays on both ends of the court. The Panthers worked the ball around the court and continued to do so until a good wide open shot presented itself and then they would take them. The Panthers outscored the Monarchs 17-7 in the quarter to take a commanding 50-16 lead heading into the 4th and final quarter.
