Police Investigate Possible Drowning Death At Port Of Los Angeles

SAN PEDRO, CA — A possible drowning victim was found dead Monday at a marina at the Port of Los Angeles, where he lived with his son on a boat.

Authorities were sent to Berth 202 about 5:20 a.m. on a call for medical aid, according to a Los Angeles port police lieutenant, who said no foul play was suspected in the death.

Information on the identity of the man, reportedly in his mid-60s, was not immediately available.

The body was found at the California Yacht Marina, where the man lived on a boat with his son, according to Fox 11.

Cher Wilson, a friend of the victim, told Channel 11 that she found his body after being called to the scene to help the man's son find his father.

"I found him in the water," Wilson said. "He was face-down. I tried to pull him out. ... I could tell he had been in the water for some time; rigor mortis had set in."

Wilson said the man used a walker, and might have tripped and fallen into the water.
