Sheriff's Vehicle Struck By Gunfire In Palos Verdes, Neighborhood Locked Down
A neighborhood was locked down Sunday after a sheriff's vehicle was struck by gunfire.

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, CA — A neighborhood in Rolling Hills Estates was placed on lockdown Sunday after a sheriff's patrol vehicle was struck by gunfire.
A deputy from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lomita station had responded to a report of multiple vehicles speeding in the 600 block of Deep Valley Drive at about 9 a.m. Sunday, according to the department.
As the deputy was driving away after speaking with the reporting party, he heard a loud pop coming from his marked patrol vehicle. Upon inspection, the deputy discovered a bullet hole on the passenger side of the trunk hatch.

No one was harmed by the shot, authorities said.
Sheriff's deputies, along with officers from the Palos Verdes Estates and Torrance police departments, established a containment perimeter around the area that was still active as of 1:45 p.m.

Authorities advised people to avoid the area surrounding Silver Spur Road between Crenshaw Boulevard and Hawthorne Boulevard.
