Trump Visit Could Slow South Bay Traffic Tuesday. What To Know

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — South Bay motorists should prepare for possible traffic delays Tuesday evening as President Donald Trump visits Rancho Palos Verdes for a Republican National Committee fundraising event at Trump National Golf Club.

While officials had not publicly released the president's arrival time in Southern California as of Tuesday morning, the White House schedule calls for Trump to participate in an RNC roundtable at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reception at 7 p.m., before departing later Tuesday for Las Vegas.

The visit is expected to bring temporary flight restrictions and rolling traffic impacts around Los Angeles International Airport, the South Bay and Rancho Palos Verdes, although authorities had not announced specific road closure times Tuesday morning. Presidential movements are typically accompanied by short-term traffic holds as motorcades travel between locations.

Motorists should expect delays around LAX and the South Bay, however, the exact timing remains fluid because the president's arrival time has not been disclosed. It also remained unclear Tuesday morning whether Trump would travel between the airport and Rancho Palos Verdes by motorcade, helicopter or another combination of transportation.

The White House has said Trump plans to use the event to promote his administration's record on the economy and crime while drawing contrasts with California's Democratic leadership.

Following the evening events in Rancho Palos Verdes, Trump is scheduled to travel to Las Vegas, where he is expected to deliver remarks on the economy Wednesday before returning to Washington.

Trump's last official visit to California came in January 2025, when he toured areas devastated by the Palisades and Eaton fires and met with local officials to discuss recovery efforts.

Drivers planning to travel through the South Bay or near LAX on Tuesday evening are encouraged to allow extra travel time and monitor traffic conditions as the president's visit gets underway.
