The Huntington Beach sand bass bite is on. After a five-year drought, it appears that the bite is on as boats from Laguna Beach to San Pedro have been traveling to the flats for some outstanding day and night action.  

Private boaters and sport boats alike have caught the 10-per-angler limit of sand bass.

"They are the perfect fish for beginners and seasoned anglers," said Jim Valdez, skipper of the Native Sun out of Long Beach Sportfishing, Berth 55. "They are fun, easy to catch and they make a mean fish taco."
