Metro Urinator Caught With Bag Full Of Guns Sentenced To 4 Years

PASADENA, CA — A Georgia man who was carrying a rifle, a handgun and ammunition when he was caught urinating at a Metro Gold Line station in Pasadena in June was sentenced Thursday to four years in state prison.

Christopher Harrison Goodine, 28, was convicted Oct. 20 of one felony count each of possession of an assault weapon and having a concealed firearm on the person, along with two felony counts each of possession of a silencer and manufacturing, importing, keeping for sale, giving or receiving a large- capacity magazine, according to Deputy District Attorney Brian Chang.

Goodine was arrested June 21 at the Sierra Madre Villa transit station when transit deputies approached him after seeing him urinating in public. They discovered the cache of weapons in a duffel bag.

After his arrest, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said he was carrying a loaded AR-15-type rifle, a handgun -- the use of which is restricted to law enforcement personnel, a machete, rope, a notebook with odd writing in it, a suppressor and two loaded high-capacity magazines and additional rounds of ammunition.

Sheriff Jim McDonnell, while noting there appeared to be no connection to terrorism, expressed relief that the man was found and the weaponry recovered, regardless of his intentions.

"We have somebody who was walking around with this type of weaponry, this much ammunition -- the outcome would not have been good no matter what he was going to do," McDonnell said at a news conference in June.

Goodine has remained behind bars since then.
