📰 News we're reading

• Rabid Bat Found Near Pasadena Park, Health Officials Warn (patch.com) — Pasadena residents are being urged to avoid bats after a rabid bat was found near the baseball field at Brenner Park, the city's second rabid bat this year. Health officials stress that while overall risk is low, any human or pet contact with bats should be taken seriously, with immediate washing, medical care, and calls to Pasadena Humane or veterinarians if exposure is suspected.

• Pasadena Opens 2026 Portal For Residential Rental Properties (patch.com) — Pasadena landlords now must register all residential rental units for the 2026 cycle by Oct. 31, or face escalating late fees starting Nov. 8. The city's upgraded Rental Registry portal and in-person help sessions at Victory Park, Robinson Park, and the Rent Stabilization office aim to make compliance easier for local property owners.

• Bike Shorts: Pasadena CicLAvia Map, Griffith Park, Imperial Hwy and Hollywood Blvd (streetsblog.org) — Pasadena will host a CicLAvia open streets event on November 15, featuring a 2.7-mile car-free route mainly along Colorado Boulevard with a spur to the Memorial Park A Line station. The piece also highlights new bike-safety upgrades elsewhere in L.A. and reminds riders about October's Heart of L.A. CicLAvia, useful for Pasadena cyclists planning fall rides.
