As part of the global celebration marking the Academy’s 60th anniversary, this year’s event is held under the theme “Enduring Peace: Blessed Horse in Full Stride.” The Pasadena gathering will bring together community leaders and local residents to joyfully welcome the Year of the Horse through cultural performances, festive traditions, and an atmosphere filled with positive energy.
The celebration will feature dynamic cultural performances, including the thunderous Tai Ji Celestial Drums, a spectacular Lion Dance, and a lively Dragon–Horse Dance, symbolizing strength, harmony, and good fortune for the year ahead.
Guests will also enjoy hands-on Lunar New Year traditions such as writing Chinese calligraphy, creating stencil art, roasting oranges for good fortune, savoring candied fruit skewers, making festive tangyuan (traditional sweet rice balls), and experiencing Tai Ji Men’s signature Kung Fu tea. A special blessing ritual to “bid farewell to the old and welcome the new” will give participants a chance to step into the new year with renewed hope and positivity.

In addition, the event will feature a heartfelt sharing on life wisdom inspired by Yin–Yang philosophy. Music teacher Ya-Ting Yang and her husband, Professor Ming-Chun Lu, were introduced to Tai Ji Men Qigong during a period marked by serious health challenges and mounting life pressures.
At the age of 29, Ya-Ting was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma. She underwent a total gastrectomy and endured the severe side effects of chemotherapy. After navigating the most difficult and darkest chapter of her life, she and her husband will share their journey of transforming adversity, overcoming the brink of death, and rediscovering hope.
