$5 Bicycle Lessons Offered In Petaluma, Windsor, Santa Rosa

PETALUMA, CA — To meet the demands of a bicycling boom of never-before-seen proportions brought on by pandemic life, the nonprofit Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition announced numerous virtual and in-person activities for residents of all ages — from children learning to ride a bike to adults learning bicycle maintenance.

Bicycle Lessons In Petaluma

The coalition partnered with the city of Petaluma's Parks and Recreation Department to offer on-bicycle, in-person lessons each week.

The lessons are held on Thursdays and cost $5 per participant.

The series includes lessons on "Learning to Ride a Bike," "Bicycle Skill Building for Kids," "Family Bike Skills," "Family Neighborhood Ride," and "Teen Independent Riding."

To register, go to the city's Parks and Recreation website and search for Bicycle Workshops.

The same lessons are offered Wednesdays in Windsor and Fridays in Santa Rosa.

Smart Cycling Series

"Smart Cycling A" is a virtual class for adults and teens. Participants will learn everything they need to know to ride with confidence. Those who wish to improve their cycling skills, even more, can sign up for "Smart Cycling B," an in-depth workshop that includes an extensive road ride. The coalition also offers a "Bike Chat," which is a question-and-answer session, and a virtual class on Adult Bike Maintenance.

Virtual Family Bicycling Series

Targeted toward parents and their children, this series includes "Intro to Family Bicycling," "Street Skills for Parents," "Route Planning," Great Sonoma County Family Rides," and "Bicycle Maintenance for Families." Virtual classes are free.
