Alleged Meth User Armed With Piece Of Wood Arrested: Petaluma PD

Police said the incident unfolded Sunday on Washington, Kentucky and North Water streets.

PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man suspected of being under the influence of meth Sunday afternoon "had to be taken to the ground" by officers who responded to reports of a man who was armed with a piece of wood and breaking the windows of a business, police said in a news release.

The incident involving 30-year-old Rolando Lucas-Neri started at about 2:12 p.m. when the Petaluma Police Department received calls about a man walking in and out of traffic in the area of Washington and Kentucky streets, police said.

"A short time later a citizen called to report Lucas-Neri had armed himself with a piece of wood and was breaking the windows of a business on North Water Street," police said.

Responding officers found Lucas-Neri crossing the river on the pedestrian bridge south of North Water Street.

"Upon seeing officers Lucas-Neri discarded what was later determined to be a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine," police said.

Lucas-Neri was allegedly "uncooperative with officers and did not comply with commands," police said, which was when he "had to be taken to the ground prior to being detained in handcuffs."

Neither the officers nor Lucas-Neri were injured in the incident, according to the police department.

Further investigation allegedly revealed Lucas-Neri "had taken several items from an unlocked vehicle on Kentucky Street prior to breaking the windows," police said.

Lucas-Neri was eventually booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of vandalism, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, theft and violation of probation, according to the police department.

Jail records showed he was being held without bail as of Monday morning pending a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
