Altercation At Downtown Petaluma Bar Ends In 3 Arrests: PD
Three people with known gang ties are accused of challenging security guards and bar staff to a fight, police said.
PETALUMA, CA — Three people known to participate or associate in criminal street gangs were arrested following an altercation Friday night at a downtown Petaluma bar, officials with the Petaluma Police Department said Monday in a news release.
Officers responded at 11:35 p.m. to the Hideaway bar, 128 Kentucky St., after two people who were reportedly asked to leave the business came back and were yelling gang-related statements while challenging security guards and bar staff to fight with them, police said in the release.
The officers quickly located two of the suspects who were later identified as Jesus Arango Lopez, 29, of Petaluma, and Ryan Matelli, 32, of Rohnert Park, police said.

"Upon contacting Arango Lopez and Matelli, they were uncooperative with officers and as an officer began to detain Arango Lopez in handcuffs Matelli began to flee," police said. "Additional officers initiated a short foot pursuit with Matelli that ended on American Alley after officers were able to take him to the ground and into custody."
A woman believed to be associated with the two men was being argumentative with the officer who was detaining Arango Lopez, police officials said.

The woman, later identified as Jacqueline Anguiano Oviedo, 22, of Cotati, tried a number of times to remove items from the pockets of Arango Lopez, police said.
More officers arrived and detained Anguiano Oviedo; she was placed into handcuffs and searched for any weapons, at which time officers found a knife concealed in her pocket, police said.
"During the investigation it was learned that all of the involved suspects had prior contacts for participation or association with criminal street gangs," police said. "A records check of the suspects returned showing that Arango Lopez was on active misdemeanor probation and Matelli was on felony probation."
The trio was ultimately taken to Sonoma County Jail, where, according to Petaluma police: Arango Lopez was booked on suspicion of challenge to fight in a public place and participation in criminal street gang; Matelli was booked on suspicion of challenge to fight in a public place, resisting arrest and participation in criminal street gang; and Anguiano Oviedo was booked on suspicion of resisting arrest and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.
Of the three, Matelli was the only one still behind bars Monday, according to sheriff's jail records. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon, records showed.
