Prince Gallery located at 122 American Alley, in downtown Petaluma, invites you to the Opening Reception of The Atmospherum (Waiting for the UFOs), July 9th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Free and open to the public. We will have wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres and live music!
The Atmospherum (Waiting for the UFOs) presents new work by contemporary painters, Andrea Kendall and Paul Goldman, under a shared theme of spatial precarity. While Kendall brings us into color based abstractions that make us associate with the stratospheres- cosmic or dismal, Goldman returns us to the figure and landscape- real and imagined. Whether you take The Atmospherum as conditions of our collective psyches, or two iterations on a swinging pole from ecstasy to idiosyncrasy, the general attitude is also open to welcoming UFOs. Find out for yourselves.
About the Artists:
Andrea Kendall is an abstract painter and native to Sonoma County. She received her B.A. in Fine Art from the University of California, Davis in 2001 with an emphasis in painting. Andrea's body of work explores the manipulation of ink, oil paint and solvents on canvas in a reactive and unplanned approach to create atmospherically organic compositions that encourage a subjective dialog with the viewer. She is fascinated by the visual recording inherent to the painting process, where not all layers are visible, yet are essential and influential to the final result. The Atmospherum series is an exploration in creating unique visual spaces through this process.
Paul Goldman is a contemporary painter from New York who works and lives in San Francisco. Paul's work reflects whatever happens to be going through his head at the time, combined with a continual exploration of style and technique. He attempts to create paintings that are visually compelling/rich and that capture a personal and modern mood or feeling.
*The Atmospherum (Waiting for the UFOs) will be on view from July 5th to July 31s *
