Auditions for Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado scheduled at LBC

North Bay Stage Company to hold auditions for Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera THE MIKADO – This Tues. May 3 at 7pm & May 7th at 1pm.

The resident theatre company of LBC known for their diversity in various types of performance and casting states that all roles are open and everyone in the community is encouraged to auditions. Also noted was no appointment is necessary. NBSC is requesting for all to be on time and bring something to sing (16 bars +/- of music if they have it), an accompanist will be provided. The audition (May 3rd and 7th) location is the East Auditorium at Luther Burbank Center - 50 Mark West Springs Rd, Santa Rosa.

Performance dates for the limited production run are July 22 - Aug 7. John DeGaetano will direct Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, with musical director Les Pfutzenreuter, and assistant direction by Chloe King. NBSC also states the comic opera in two acts will be performed in a very difference format than traditionally seen before for over 130 years. The Mikado is one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most-loved works, and one of the most popular operettas in the English language.

“Set in the small resort town of Titipu off the coast of Japan, The Mikado tells the tale of a beautiful schoolgirl, who's engaged to a local public official, only to fall in love with a romantic traveling minstrel – who happens to be pledged to a rather grumpy individual. In classic G&S form, complications and merriment ensue. The production is a celebration of over 130 years of Gilbert and Sullivan and presented by NBSC cabaret-style, putting the audience inside the story as they experience the fictional seaside resort in time with cast/crew, and along with exotic tastes and looks from around the world.”
