CHP Officer Plays 'Santa's Helper' Getting Boy to School Performance on Time!

The Sonoma County family was in a vehicle accident enroute to the child's holiday play and concert.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – An elementary school child made it to school to sing in his Christmas play thanks to a California Highway Patrol Officer who had stopped to investigate a collision in Santa Rosa last Tuesday evening.

Officer Kim Lemons stopped to investigate a collision on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near College Avenue when she learned that a family involved in the collision was on their way to their son's play.

The boy was eager to sing in the play, but the family did not think that even if they had their vehicle towed and they got a cab that they would make it to the play before it was over.

Lemons "learned from the parents that they had been in contact with the boy’s teacher, who was trying to arrange for the boy’s class to sing last in the hope that it would allow him to get there in time," CHP said.

So Lemons made arrangements for someone to take the boy to the play in a patrol vehicle.

"Officer Lemons decided that she was going to make it happen and that this boy was able to make it to the play in time," the agency said. "She sprang into action, making arrangements for the boy to be taken by a black and white to the front door of his elementary school while the production was still being performed."

He arrived in time to sing in the performance with his class!

Way to go community and law enforcement!
