Congratulations to the Petaluma Leghorns 17u American Legion Baseball Team

The Petaluma Leghorns 17U American Legion Baseball team entered into the Area 1 Conference 17U tournament in Fairfield, California. The Leghorns first opponent was Napa, and the Leghorns were victorious 6-0 . Leghorns then went on to beat Davis 10-3, then Ukiah 5-1 putting them in the championship game against Davis. It was a hard fought battle in the heat, but the Leghorns finished strong with a 19-11 win. This advances the Leghorns into the Area Tournament in Chico. Coach Joe Lampe explains the season as the tale of two halves. The first half started out slow for the Leghorns, however the second half of the season you could see the team had begun to gel together. The season fell into that cliché of “it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish” and finish strong is exactly what the Leghorns did. The team is coached by Joe Lampe, Dave Siembieda, RJ Busse and Mike Jacobs. The team is made up of players mostly from Casa Grande High School and includes players from Petaluma High and St Vincent’s High. There are a mix of freshman kids who are now sophomores and sophomores who are now juniors. See team Roster below.
