County Coroner IDs Napa Man Killed in Weekend Hit-and-Run Near Petaluma
CHP is still seeking the pickup driver, who fled the scene.

The Sonoma County coroner’s office has identified a driver who was killed in a hit-and-run crash west of Petaluma early Saturday morning as 51-year-old Ubaldo Arias Mendoza of Napa.
Mendoza’s 1994 Mazda 323 was heading west on Bodega Avenue near King Road around 4 a.m. Saturday when it was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pickup driver was driving east on Bodega Avenue when the truck drifted off of the south edge of the road and hit two mailboxes, CHP officials said.

The force of the impact caused the pickup to spin 180 degrees, cross back onto Bodega Avenue and collide with the Mazda, according to the CHP. The pickup driver fled the scene and has not been found.
