Crab season officially kicks of Thursday, so be ready to purchase local Dungeness crab as early as this weekend.
North Coast fishermen and processors have reached an agreement over prices--$3 a pound, according to the Press Democrat—paving the way for the start of the season.
Last year, North Coast crab fishermen caught more than 7 tons of Dungeness Crab, double the previous year, according to the California Department of Fish and Game.

The harvest this year is expected to be equally good and recreational fishermen have already gotten their start, throwing their nets in on November 2. The season in Northern California runs through June 30.
