Pileup Crash Briefly Closes U.S. Highway 101 In Petaluma

Southbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes Friday when nine or 10 vehicles were involved in a pile-up crash.

PETALUMA, CA — A pile-up crash involving multiple vehicles shut down southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Petaluma for about a half hour Friday. Police said at noon that southbound 101 was closed at Kastania Road and advised motorists to avoid the area of Petaluma Boulevard South, Kastania Road and U.S. 101.

California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa area Spokesman David deRutte said nine or 10 vehicles were involved in the crash but did not give details about what may have caused the pileup.

Nobody was seriously injured, deRutte said.

At about 12:30 p.m., Petaluma police advised southbound U.S. 101 was reopened.

No other roadways were affected.
