Crews Contain Shady Fire In Monte Rio

The blaze burned in heavy Sonoma County timber but within two hours, firefighters had it fully contained.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A vegetation broke out late Thursday night in heavy Sonoma County timber but firefighters quickly gained the upper hand.

Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit responded around 10:15 p.m. Thursday to the Shady Fire near Ridgecrest Drive and Old Monte Rio Road in Monte Rio.

At 10:45 p.m., the blaze was reportedly burning in heavy timber at a slow rate of spread.

By 12:30 a.m. Friday, the wildfire was 100 percent contained at 1/4 acre.
